After months of strategic silence — marked by solo projects and tours that have taken its members to every time zone — BLACKPINK is back together. K-pop’s most influential quartet is back in group mode with DEADLINE, their third mini-album, which will be released on 27 February, as confirmed by YG Entertainment. It is their first major collective move since BORN PINK (2022) and ends a three-year, five-month hiatus, interrupted only by the digital single JUMP last July.
The title is no coincidence. DEADLINE shares its name with the world tour that is currently playing stadiums, connecting the new material with the stage presence that has defined the BLACKPINK era. The agency assures us that everything — including the video clip — was finalised ahead of schedule. A detail that smacks of absolute control over timing. ‘Thank you to the fans for their patience,’ they say, promising ‘top-quality’ music, while the first official images, bathed in their iconic colour palette, make it clear that promotions are already underway and will be on a large scale.
The group’s comeback does not come alone: it kicks off an intense spring for global K-pop. Before releasing the album, BLACKPINK will bring down the curtain on their world tour with three key dates at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium from 24 to 26 January.
DEADLINE is 27 February.
