BMW teams up with TYDE to create the world’s first battery-powered boat, offering the most luxurious experience.
BMW is moving away from the road this time and focusing on advancing the field of electrified mobility together with boat manufacturer TYDE. THE ICON is the architectural spectacle manufactured by both brands: the first battery-powered boat, featuring a pair of 100 kW electric motors that convert the 240 kWh of energy supplied by six BMW i3 batteries into nautical power, speed and range. It achieves about 100 km of travel and at a top speed of 55 km/h.
The yacht is virtually silent and produces no waves or vibrations at sea. It offers a luxurious experience accompanied by Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack, which gives the vessel a look and sound to match the electric propulsion. The crew can also enjoy THE ICON’s luxury thanks to its 13.15-meter length.
Origami ideals form the exterior, and the hull is decorated with LED lights both day and night. Angled glass doors meet 360° swivel seating, a 32-inch 6K touchscreen and designer furnishings.
