The Model 600 lamp, originally designed by the legendary Gino Sarfatti in 1966, broke the mould of its time with its innovative and radically flexible design. Unlike traditional lamps of the time, its structure was mouldable, offering a versatility that translates into a dynamic and adaptable lighting experience. Its base, consisting of a leather box filled with lead pellets, allowed the lamp to not only tilt, but to easily adapt to any space, giving it an almost sculptural yet functional character.
This contemporary redesign of the Model 600 lamp not only underlines Sarfatti’s expertise, but also reveals a striking parallel with the history of Bottega Veneta. Like the lamp, the fashion house was also born in 1966, and both the lamp’s design and Bottega’s early bags share a common aesthetic: soft, curved shapes and a refined use of leather. Sarfatti’s work, at the time pioneering, seems to anticipate in some ways the philosophy of the luxury brand, which has always sought to elevate craftsmanship through simplicity and timeless elegance.
For this special edition, the Model 600 is reinterpreted under the unmistakable characteristics of Bottega Veneta, with finishes that incorporate its famous braided pattern, Intrecciato, and a new version called Intreccio Foulard. These design variations not only maintain the original essence of the lamp, but modernise it, imbuing it with a new visual language that connects it with the brand’s aesthetic codes. The lamp now offers a light that can be customised: direct or soft, depending on its orientation, allowing it to play with the atmosphere of any environment.
In addition to its innovative design, the new version of the Model 600 comes in a range of sophisticated shades, including classic black, grey, deep red, emerald green and, of course, Bottega Veneta’s emblematic green, a colour that has defined the visual identity of the fashion house over the years. Available in two sizes, this lamp is not only a functional piece, but also an object of desire, a statement of luxury and exclusivity.
