Bottega Veneta connects with Italian architect Gaetano Pesce to create in its boutique the immersive installation “Vieni a vedere”, which translates as “Come and see”.
Bottega Veneta’s latest project is a curious immersive installation in its Milan boutique entitled “Vieni a vedere” by sculptor-architect and designer Gaetano Pesce.
The brand’s flagship store on Via Montenapoleone in Milan becomes a kind of prehistoric cave with a path that narrows and does not let you see its end, simulating a labyrinth. On the floor, stripes of paint like currents indicate the path to follow through the winding tunnel, and on the walls there are some shadows that look like cave drawings.
Two bags designed by the artist from Italy are displayed in the center of the space and also in the background, made of leather by the Bottega Veneta team. The two models “My dear mountains” and “My dear Meadows” are inspired by the landscapes of the Veneto where the designer grew up, especially the Euganean and Colorado mountains.
“The space in which we present the bags is ‘a grotto’. It’s narrow and you walk through one at a time, either underground or above, you find your way through,” Pesce explained. “What you actually walk through is the silhouette of a figure shooting a basket. It represents almost a victory: it’s not clear if it goes in. In this case, the victory is the discovery, the discovery of the language of representation. It’s about opening new paths to design.”
The installation is available in the store until April 22, and the artist’s handcrafted bags are also available for purchase.
In other news, the highly anticipated FENDI by Marc Jacobs capsule arrives in May.
