Once again, the Parisian brand Botter by Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh presented its Autumn/Winter 2023 collection entitled “VENUS COMB, MUREX SHELL” at Paris Fashion Week.
Entitled VENUS COMB, MUREX SHELL, the collection seeks to explore the concept of identity through a tribute to the heritage of co-founder Rushemy Botter, who was born on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao. The capsule aims to answer the question: “Who am I?” and to inspire the new Caribbean generations to always create while remaining true to the codes, culture and spirit of their region that makes them unique.
As with previous collections, the garments of the FW23 collection travelled between minimalism and simplicity, leaving plenty of room to play with footwear and accessories. The brand’s signature blue found its space in turquoise, emulating the colour of the Caribbean Sea, and fused with earth tones in utilitarian-inspired jackets and blazers. The most striking looks were completed with bags in the shape of recycled bicycle saddles.
In addition to this detail, the show also featured toy cars hanging around the necks of the models that functioned as necklaces. Another fun touch to the collection was the footwear in collaboration with the sports brand Reebok. Like Dior this season, Botter also turned to 3D printing to update its “Banker” silhouette that debuted in 2017, but this time it was inspired by the Murex seashell used by the Greek goddess Venus.
