After nearly a decade without releasing a solo project, Bruno Mars has officially confirmed his return to the album format with The Romantic. The record marks his fourth studio album and his first since 24K Magic (2016). The album will be released on 27 February, as announced by the artist via Instagram.
As a preview, Mars will release the first single on 9 January. The drop signals the beginning of a new creative chapter following years of chart domination through high-profile collaborations. Although his last solo album dates back to 2016, the Hawaiian artist has never stepped away from the industry spotlight.
In 2021, he swept the Grammy Awards alongside Anderson .Paak as part of Silk Sonic. Throughout 2025, he went on to break records with several collaborative releases. His track with Lady Gaga, “Die With a Smile”, became the fastest song to reach one billion streams on Spotify. This was followed by “APT.”, his viral collaboration with Rosé, which is shaping up as a strong contender for multiple awards at the upcoming Grammy Awards.
With a career defined by diamond-certified hits such as “Uptown Funk” and “That’s What I Like”, expectations surrounding The Romantic are high. The album arrives at a pivotal moment for the artist, as Bruno Mars looks to channel the momentum of his recent collaborations into a new phase of solo consolidation.
The first preview will be released this week, with the full album arriving at the end of February. All signs point to Bruno Mars returning, once again, to the centre of global pop.
