The iconic British fashion house will launch its own book titled “Burberry” in conjunction with luxury publisher Assouline.
The house pays tribute to its legacy by capturing in its new book its evolution from its beginnings as a family business to the present day as a luxury brand. Founded more than 165 years ago by Thomas Burberry with the initial purpose of creating clothes to protect people from cold weather, it has become an icon of British culture. The trench coat and the Burberry Check are some of his emblematic creations, which will be collected in five chapters and 252 pages for those who love archives and fashion history.
The issue features 200 illustrations and text by Alexander Fury, fashion features director of AnOther Magazine and men’s fashion critic for the Financial Times, and a foreword by Carly Eck, curator of the brand’s archive.
Eck states, “Burberry is the story of creativity, exploration, innovation and community, which remain at the heart of the brand. By unearthing a latent treasure, countless nuggets of gold have been revealed. This book, the only one endorsed by the brand in recent times, presents an overview of the company’s extraordinary heritage, which deserves to be widely celebrated. It is the stuff of legends.
The book will be on sale from March 28 at Burberry and Assouline stores, priced at €195.
