After six years in album silence mode (yes, Invasion of Privacy came out in 2018 and we’re all still in shock), Cardi B has confirmed what many already suspected: the second album is finished and on its way.
The Bronx rapper set the networks on fire on 8 June after appearing on Everyday People, where she previewed her new track ‘Outside’. The audience went wild. Literally. A reaction that only added fuel to the fire of Cardi’s anticipated comeback.
Shortly after, the artist revealed that the album is already in the hands of the label. In a tweet she later deleted: “Things are out of my hands now. Everything is in the hands of Atlantic [Records]”. It couldn’t be clearer. And if that wasn’t enough, in a live IG post she dropped the bombshell: “I finally feel ready…. You all waited long enough. It’s time to go.
About the features, Cardi has been careful with the spoiler, but she left us with this gem on X: “The collaborations on my album are really good. I’m working with artists I’ve collaborated with before and some brand new ones.” The mix sounds promising.
Although there’s still no 100% confirmed title, the word on the street is already calling it CB2, and rumour has it that it will retain that raw, streetwise New York DNA it has always championed. Meanwhile, the Bardigang are reliving Bodak Yellow as if it were 2017. And with good reason: that anthem made Cardi the second female rapper in history to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a solo track – the first was Lauryn Hill with ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ in 1998.
