The quintessential workwear brand now debuts an editorial illustrating its new SS23 collection, while paying homage to New York through a retro aura and lens.
“Boroughs” puts the spotlight on the reconstruction of Carhartt’s WIP styles in a sequence of grainy images captured by photographer D’Andre Williams over New York’s downtown core, among iconic city landmarks such as the 125th Street subway station in Harlem, brick walls and apartment stairwells, which, along with the film format used, gives the editorial a nostalgic NY old school halo.
Archival Carhartt silhouettes like the “OG Chore Coat” and the “Simple Pant” are now presented in black denim versions with contrasting triple-stitched details, while the “Women’s OG Michigan Coat” is reimagined in a soft blue denim with a washed effect.
Beyond these references, in the collection we can find other pieces from the “Alma” category with which the brand, since 1994, reuses two of the brand’s founding fabrics to create oversized, lightweight and updated garments such as vests, jackets or pants.
The “Boroughs” editorial photographed by D’Andre Williams can be seen (and appreciated) in the gallery above and on the brand’s website, as well as its new SS23 collection focused on the avant-garde exploration of denim.
