Carhartt WIP – whose musical roots can be traced back to Detroit, Michigan – joins forces with Berlin-based club, record label and cultural institution Tresor for a collaboration that celebrates the enduring spirit of two music metropolises.
The nine-piece Carhartt WIP x Tresor capsule features a black and electric blue colour palette with reflective and glow-in-the-dark details, as well as Carhartt WIP’s iconic Boogeyman motif, which fuses the industrial spirit of Berlin and Detroit with the energy of 1990s dancefloors.
The collection includes a Michigan Coat and shoulder bag, as well as a selection of printed and embroidered knitwear. The lookbook’s accompanying video features Berlin-based artists Jesse G, Erik Jabari and JakoJako.
Entitled 030313, the 12‘ vinyl compilation takes its name from the telephone prefixes of Berlin (030) and Detroit (313), while evoking early “90s compilations like Tresor II – A Techno Alliance. 030313 opens with ”I.D.L.E’, a lost Model 500 track that fuses cosmic melodies with a sinuous bassline. It is followed by ‘Searching (Live At Globus)’, by Detroit duo Ectomorph, and ‘Your Body’, a track exclusive to AMX (AKA The AM).
On the B-side of the compilation is ‘Dynamic Instability’ by DJ Stingray 313, which pulses with dark and furious funk and industrial jack. The energy stays high with ‘Metal Goat’ by JakoJako, while ‘Screamcore’ by young producer Erik Jabari closes the album.
In Barcelona, the collaboration will be presented at The Room (Carrer del Duc 5), with dj sets by Oma Totem and Solid Blake.

To celebrate the collaboration, a free daytime event will take place on 25 May at Waajeed’s Underground Music Academy in Detroit, with a barbecue and boot sale, as well as DJ sets from artists including AMX b2b Detroit in Effect and Spiñorita, and workshops from Ectomorph and HiTech. In the evening, the event moves to Tangent Gallery, where Model 500 and Titonton Duvanté will perform live, with support from Huey Mnemonic, Intergalactic Gary and DJ Stingray 313.

On 7 June the celebrations continue at Tresor in Berlin with a free barbecue and presentation of the collection in the club’s garden. This will be followed by a talk by founder Dimitri Hegemann and former Tresor Records label manager Carola Stoiber at the Hard Wax record shop, with music by members of the Hard Wax team. The series is rounded off by a club night featuring Moodymann, DJ Etta, AMX and Scan 7, as well as DJ Pete b2b Erik Jabari.
In addition, Hamburg-based producer and DJ Helena Hauff will present the June edition of Carhartt WIP Radio with an all-vinyl mix documenting Tresor’s legacy, featuring tracks from 3 PHASE, System 01, Drexciya and Joey Beltram.
Carhartt WIP x Tresor will be available from 23 May in the Tresor online shop, in selected Carhartt WIP shops and on carhartt-wip.com, as well as in selected retailers and record shops.
