Charaf Tajer presented his latest collection “Venus as a Boy”, at the majestic Cirque D’Hiver in Paris. The event was attended by prominent international personalities such as Saweetie, Achraf Hakimi and Marco Asensio, becoming the highlight of the third day of Fashion Week in Paris.
The ambiance inside Cirque D’Hiver, with its blue floor and the red armchairs of the Bouglione room, provided the perfect setting for the sensory experience that Charaf Tajer had in store for us. Inspired by the mysterious rituals of Eleusis, an ancient Greek city where secret religious ceremonies were held, Tajer unfurled a collection that captured the essence of timeless beauty, while paying homage to the rich history of ancient Greece and its influence on contemporary culture.
Under the spell of Björk’s iconic song of the same title, “Venus as a Boy,” Charaf Tajer channeled the energy of mythological interpretations brought to the present day. Just as Venus was a Roman version of Aphrodite, Casablanca sought to reinterpret this mythological figure, exploring new dimensions of her identity through a contemporary perspective.
The collection becomes an amalgamation of art and fashion with featured collaborations with renowned artist Jeff Hamilton and iconic sandal brand Ancient Greek Sandals. From embroidered leather jackets to reinvented sandal silhouettes, these collaborations highlight Casablanca’s ability to fuse art and fashion on a single canvas, creating pieces that transcend time and ephemeral trends.
The fashion show revealed a color palette that evoked the freshness and purity of ancient Greece, with a green to white gradient that captured the essence of the season. Just as in Spring/Summer Charaf focused on warm colors, now it was the turn of a cooler palette. The man in a suit with details inspired by ancient Greece, joined the sensual and sophisticated woman of Casablanca.
However, it was in the middle block of the proposal where the real magic was unleashed. Pants, headbands, balaclavas and silver puffer jackets made their entrance, fusing the athleisure of 80s vintage references encapsulates Charaf Tajer’s unique vision and ability to reinvent fashion through a fresh and provocative lens.
With its inspiration rooted in ancient Greece and its gaze fixed on the future, Casablanca continues to challenge the boundaries of contemporary fashion, taking its faithful on an authentically Mediterranean journey.
