Used to seeing Cecilie Bahnsen’s dreamy dresses in black and white, this season the designer surprises by stepping out of her comfort zone and experimenting with different colors. She calls her FW23 collection “Untitled (Pink, White, Red, Red, Red)”.
The Danish designer shares in the show notes that with each new season she feels more confident and lets herself be driven by her creativity, trusting her own instinct. “This season I felt the desire to explore color. Traditionally we have focused on monochrome, all in one color. I wanted to open it up a bit, sew pink tones, work the colors together,” she adds.
The runway show was held at the Palais de Tokyo during Paris Fashion Week, with a musical performance by British artist Suki. The first floral-looking garments we saw on the runway sport a fun lemon yellow hue, continuing with a palette consisting of soft blues, reds, pinks and magentas. The dresses and skirts have a puffed and voluminous look, composed of delicate mending and gathering.
The creative managed to convey a sense of intimacy and romanticism with her new line, where she no longer limited herself to the traditional black and white, although we could still see them among the other colors. As a promoter of sustainability, Bahnsen joins Nona Source using recycled and reworked fabrics from the resale platform launched by LVMH. In addition, a new collaboration with Asics was unveiled during the show: a romantic sneaker decorated with floral appliqués.
