In January, Y-3 presented the first chapter of its SS23 collection inspired by “destroyed elegance”, and Yamamoto now presents chapter 2 in which he explores the “absence of technical effort”.

Yohji Yamamoto explores the relationship between design and functionality in the second installment of his SS23 collection, offering his own vision of the future. It is titled “Technical Effortlessness”, an idea that well defines the designer’s approach to fashion. Together with adidas in their Y-3 project, he draws inspiration from utilitarian workwear to create suits, outerwear and cargo pants.

He uses structured silhouettes complete with adaptable details and asymmetrical cuts, and includes footwear (with styles like the Itogo) and weather caps. The main color of the collection is black, with navy blue and coral orange also appearing in the pieces.

The campaign was photographed by Shoichi Aoki and directed by Emily Okuda-Overhoff, and the collection is set to go on sale April 7 at adidas.
