Charles Jeffrey’s post-punk play LOVERBOY FW24

The dramatisation of the LOVERBOY universe and its countercultural essence are back on stage in this new proposal staged around an interactive play entitled “THE CURIOUS CASE OF MOSHKIRK AND BOONESS”.

Their FW24 collection is presented as an ode to Moshkrik, Scotland; ‘to the rebellious spirits of a revived subculture that lives on strongly to this day, that also speaks of the magical, of fables and tales, of the absurd’.

All that imagery stimulated by fantasy and imagination is now reinterpreted by the Scottish designer, in all its playful glory, envisioning fashion as art in motion, and punk and disco as acts of rebellion that dominated the streets before Margaret Thatcher’s conservative reign.

In this dramatic work, the monstrous creatures and rebellious denizens of Moshkirk tell the story of their pioneering fashion movement in 1979 through a collection orchestrated around 37 looks, built around patterns of rage and chaos, with a heavy prevalence of XXL tailoring adorned with handmade patchwork panels. It is followed by tartan jumpers and drop-shoulder coats as hypnotic looks adorned with the brand’s signature animal ears.

Faded denim jackets and animal-print anoraks inject rebelliousness into the collection, while band tees, frayed crochet garments and peeled banana boots complete the play with sarcastic notes.
