Chitose Abe, the creative director and founder of Sacai, is establishing herself as the undisputed queen of collabs, as from today she can add one more brand to her never-ending list. Which one? Cartier.
The Japanese designer has been invited by the prestigious and iconic luxury jewellery brand to reimagine its iconic “Trinity” ring, created in 1924, “turning the familiar into something new”, but also to design a small collection of six limited edition pieces.
Abe’s new twist on this iconic piece has involved extending two of the original’s interlocking bands so that it can now be worn on multiple fingers. “It goes back to the idea of my clothes. There are so many different ways to wear them. I wanted to apply that theory to Trinity’s design: individuality in the way the piece is worn”.
