After her runway show starring prosthetic animals last season, Hillary Taymour returned with another imaginative showcase titled “Soft is Hard,” featuring models with somewhat unsettling smiles.
Taymour’s extravagance had a clear purpose, as detailed in this season’s collection notes, “As we smile and endure the exciting present, where the world burns and reproductive, trans and human rights in general are threatened, we invoke the strength of radical softness”.
The collection opened with a corset with pronounced shoulders combined with high-waisted satin shorts decorated with floral motifs. This graphic was repeated on the brand’s Dante pants in another ensemble, while corsetry also made its presence felt in several printed dresses.
The new line featured androgynous garments such as satin blazers in blush tones, tank tops, charcoal jeans and banana briefs, while sheer, velvet and lace fabrics were highlighted in the last outfits of the collection. Collina Strada’s “I Care a Lot, I Wear” books were turned into hand accessories, and buckled shoes featured punk-style spikes.
In other fashion news, MISBHV continues to represent rave culture.
