In recent years, Colombian architects and designers have demonstrated their talent and have given birth to emblematic constructions, whether for their functionality or their symbolism, forming part of the country’s cultural heritage.

Rogelio Salmona

Considered one of Colombia’s most influential architects, Salmona is known for his modern architectural style and his masterful use of brick, inspired by pre-Columbian architecture. Some of his most notable works include the Torres del Parque in Bogotá and the Archivo General de la Nación.

Juan Montoya

Montoya is one of Colombia’s most internationally recognised interior designers. An architecture graduate from La Gran Colombia University, he moved to New York City to study interior design at Parsons School of Design. After three years living in France and Italy, he returned to New York to found his own firm, characterised by the use of layers and textures.

Giancarlo Mazzanti

He is a contemporary architect whose focus is on social and sustainable architecture. He has designed important projects in Colombia, such as the Biblioteca España in Medellín and the Ciudadela Educativa de Santa María del Campo in Cartagena.

Marta Gallo y Juliana Fernández

Marta Gallo and Juliana Fernández, directors of the firm AEI, are two Colombian architects to keep an eye on. Specialising in office, residential and hospitality design, their firm of more than 120 people has been designing and building projects in Colombia, Mexico and the United States for 20 years.

Simón Vélez

Renowned for his skill in the use of bamboo as a building material, Vélez has created impressive structures both in Colombia and abroad. His works fuse traditional techniques with modern innovations. Some of his works include the Colombian Pavilion at the Hannover World Expo 2000, the Bamboo House in Japan and the Orchideorama Pavilion at the Botanical Garden in Medellín.

Jimena Londoño y Laura Escobar

These Colombian architects are the heads of Jotaele Arquitectura. Based in Bogotá, Jotaele Arquitectura was founded in 2007 by Londoño and later in 2019, Escobar joined the firm. Jotaele Arquitectura is characterised by solving projects ranging from architecture, construction, restoration, interior design, decoration, to custom furniture design.

Daniel Bonilla

He is a Colombian architect who has left an important mark in the field of contemporary architecture. His designs are characterised by simplicity and attention to detail. His works are characterised by their modern style and his ability to integrate architecture with the natural environment. In addition to his work as an architect, Daniel Bonilla has also taught at various educational institutions.

Felipe Uribe de Bedout

This architect stands out for his responsible design and his commitment to the creation of spaces that promote sustainable development and integration with the environment. Felipe has participated in various architectural and urban development projects in Colombia, in which he has applied design strategies that prioritise energy efficiency, the use of sustainable materials and environmental conservation.

Diego Alejandro Rincón

This Colombian designer graduated with a degree in architecture from the Universidad Piloto in Bogotá, then moved to New York in 2010, where he founded Diego Alejandro Design. With a style that is both modern and urban, his forte is his ability to mix light and unusual colour palettes with mid-century modern furnishings to achieve fresh, contemporary-looking spaces.

Catherine Moggio

Catherine Moggio Grossman is a Colombian designer and consultant. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, a few years ago she founded Moggio Berg Interiors in Bogotá together with Nicole Berg. Today, Catherine has her own firm in which she reflects a strong influence from her travels, creating interiors that evoke calm and harmony, while integrating trends into the spaces she designs.

Manuel Villa

Recognised for his experimental and avant-garde architecture, Villa has left a significant mark on the Colombian architectural scene. Villa has experimented with different materials and techniques, always seeking innovative solutions to architectural challenges. One of his most recognised works is the Tobón House, located in Medellín. This house is characterised by its unique structure and conceptual design.

David Restrepo

This Colombian architect is another one to keep an eye on. David has worked on architectural projects and interior design in the commercial, educational, housing and hotel sectors. Among the projects he is currently working on are the offices of the firm Schrader and Camargo, next to the Fusca hacienda, near La Caro, and the 3M Building, by Camacho and Guerrero, considered icons of modern architecture.

Sebastián Serna y Santiago Pradila

These two young architects, winners of the National Prize for Architecture and Urbanism, are the authors of the firm Taller de S. Since 2008 they have worked together on residential projects and heritage preservation and restoration. For their work on the building they won the National Architecture Award in 2014 in the category of heritage intervention in Colombia, and in 2012 a mention in the same category for their work on the Cantagallo building.
