Could Drake have acquired Tupac’s iconic jewellery piece?

A recent Instagram post by Drake has sparked speculation about the possible purchase of one of the most iconic pieces in hip-hop history: the Death Row Records chain that 2Pac wore on the cover of the album All Eyez On Me. The image shows a close-up of the pendant, with the inscription “All eyez on YOU 1996” on the back, accompanied only by the caption: “COPENHAGEN NIGHT ONE LESSSGO,” without any mention of 2Pac.

This would not be the first time Drake has acquired a historic item related to Tupac. In 2023, he purchased at Sotheby’s the gold and ruby crown ring that 2Pac used to wear, for over one million dollars. That ring even became part of the controversy between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, when the latter changed the lyrics of his track Euphoria to reference 2Pac’s ring.

The original chain was visible in photographs of Tupac during the 1990s and had not been publicly seen since. Drake’s post could indicate a new acquisition or be a replica, as no further details about the piece were provided.
