Courrèges is back with the Carré Magique

Since Nicolas Di Felice took the creative reins at Courrèges, the maison has been able to fuse its futuristic heritage with a contemporary vision that balances aesthetic minimalism with a strong ability to tell stories in a very simple way.

If Courrèges Fall-Winter 2024 campaign played with the expansion of space through color and scale (of sizes), the new proposal for Spring-Summer 2025 opts for a more sober approach. This time, the narrative emerges from the abstraction of a white background, where rectangular cutouts act as windows.

Legendary photographer Mark Borthwick, who has been a key player in Courrèges’ visual revival, is once again the eye behind the campaign. His sensitivity for capturing light and movement has endowed the images with a cinematic aura, where the models seem suspended in time and space. For SS25, this timelessness is intensified with off-center compositions and an almost ethereal lighting that reinforces the minimalism of the proposal, whose scenographic direction falls to Rémy Brière in collaboration with Di Felice.

Jeanne Cadieu, Angelina Kendall, Sara Caballero, Leon Dame and Ibra Niakate embody the carefree and sophisticated attitude that Courrèges projects in his designs. The selection of key garments-from structured denim ensembles and Carré Magique tops to leather blouses and the iconic Holy Bag-is presented with styling pared down to the essentials, allowing each piece and each face to have the prominence they deserve.

Beyond the costumes, the simplicity of the usual white background of Courrèges’ campaigns becomes a blank canvas that invites to imagine, to project, to dream; a space of calm, a blank sheet of paper, a means to explore new dimensions.
