Before taking up the position of Creative Director at Gucci.
‘Exactitudes’ is not just any collection. It is the last of an era – Demna‘s at Balenciaga – and its final chapter does not come as a melancholic farewell, but rather embodies the physical and symbolic archive of a decade of work, synthesising the anthropology of dress that the designer has been building since his arrival at the Maison in 2025.
To understand this proposal it is essential to look at the photographic project “Exactitudes” by Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek, a documentary series that captures uniformity within diversity. Real people, captured in their habitat, with almost identical looks but individualities intact. Demna takes this logic and applies it to his universe.
Every silhouette, every volume and every attitude is meticulously calculated. A revision of the codes of luxury and the dissolution of its boundaries: where does high fashion begin and where does streetwear end?
Because Demna has always been political. And this collection was not going to be any less so. In it, she reflects and poses the following question: what do clothes say about us?
