Dior Fall 2023 pays tribute to India’s valuable role in luxury fashion by presenting its collection at the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
Maria Grazia Chiuri presented the new Dior collection at the Gateway of India in Mumbai showcasing her relationship with Karishma Swali, director of the Chanakya School of Crafts. The fashion show showcases India’s important role in luxury fashion, paying homage to its culture and savoir-faire.
The garments are inspired by the first Dior designs made by Marc Bohan after his trip to India in 1962. The line includes traditional Indian silhouettes that incorporate contemporary details. First the pieces were presented in darker, more neutral tones, leading up to those in pinks, greens, yellows and purples.
Embroidery is the star of the collection, and sequins in gold and silver decorated silk blouses and pajamas. Skirts with traditional Indian cuts were presented, and there was no shortage of sophisticated coats. Evening gowns were in charge of closing the show.
In the gallery above you can see the looks from the successful show that brought together traditional ties and innovation from the house of Dior.
