With a nautical theme, the proposal has been conceived on the occasion of the sailing championship that will take place in Barcelona.
This is the oldest international sporting competition in the world, which began to be sponsored by the Maison in 1983 with the aim of maintaining its loyal passion for travel, innovation and excellence. Now, more than forty years later, LV pays tribute to this association by bringing its patronage to the very title of this internationally prestigious championship, which is named the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup and will additionally organise the qualifying rounds under the title Louis Vuitton Cup.
Both sporting events will take place in Barcelona from 22 August to 12 October 2024, where the Emirates team from New Zealand (the defending champions) will face the five contenders: France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and England.
And of course, to celebrate this special occasion, LV has designed two capsule collections that connect the artisanal tradition of ready-to-wear with the nautical codes of the world’s most important regatta. The Maison‘s emblems merge with nautical details in three themes: Riding the waves will host the most technical garments; A Day On the Deck will focus on everyday sportswear; and Elegant Summer Evening will offer the most elegant pieces.
Riding the waves focuses all its efforts on combining functionality and seafaring elegance with the aim of offering versatile designs such as windbreakers and shorts that evoke the style of boat captains. Highlights include a new edition of the Keepball bag in waterproof canvas; a waterproof Sailor Sling in Monogram Storm; the reissue in technical mesh of the LV Rush for women; and the introduction of three versions of the LV Barracuda for men. Finally, the line is completed with a series of caps and sunglasses that maintain the same aesthetic.
Marine motifs such as stripes are revived in A Day On the Deck, which revisits the iconic Damier and Monogram prints and adapts them to the colours and style of maritime flags. In this case we’re talking about refined yet relaxed pieces that elevate wardrobe basics through vibrant hues and attractive fabrics. This is the case of the reversible windbreaker in glossy finish; the swimwear; the bucket hats or the extraordinary LV Trainer. The Keepball 50 and Noé bags in patchwork motifs with the Damier flag in a slightly different version with a refreshing, summery effect do not go unnoticed either.
Finally, the Elegant Summer Evening theme opens the way to elegance and sophistication with more formal options such as long dresses in crepe and leather and metal details or men’s blazers with double-breasted gold buttons and damier patches. The Capucine bag stands imposingly in this selection as the perfect accessory; while the Sling Sailor or the Float wallet incorporate the emblem of the America’s Cup and become very prominent options, without stealing the limelight from the bag designed especially for the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup in Barcelona: the Keepball 50 with the Damier flags printed on it.
All pieces will be available in LV‘s physical boutiques and also on the official website from 18 July 2024.
