Dive watches are for summer

Text by Ana Franco

The first dips are the ones that taste the best. Especially if you have a brand new watch. These five rabidly new divers’ watches are more suited to the sea and the high temperatures than any other model, and are candidates to usher in the summer of 2024.

Sub 200T by Doxa

In keeping with the times of smaller cases to suit more wrists, Doxa has added this 39 mm-diameter automatic Sub in 2024 to its catalogue. To attach it, you can choose a rubber strap in the same yellow as the dial (discreet, please abstain) or a steel bracelet. Its power reserve is not very remarkable: it stands at 38 hours. Its water-resistance, yes: 200 metres.

PVP.: 1.550 €.

Vulcan Nautical Skindiver

Orange dials are very common in the diving watch community because orange is one of the colours best seen in the sea. This steel Vulcain timepiece with a black ceramic fluted bezel measures 38 mm, and is equipped with a three-hand automatic movement. With luminescent material on the indexes and hands, typical of this type of model, it goes down to 200 metres without any problems.

PVP.: 1.610 €.

SKX Series by Seiko

The new SKX Series youth watch line from Seiko’s Seiko 5 Sports collection has just been launched with an automatic movement with approximately 41 hours of power reserve. It is designed for everyday use and is suitable for submersion in the ocean (up to 100 metres). It combines black and gold in a steel case 42.5 mm in diameter and 14.2 mm thick, and features a dual calendar function.

PVP.: 425 €.

Pontos S Diver by Maurice Lacroix

It is designed for the city, but dives into the water like a dolphin up to 300 metres. This automatic Pontos S Diver is made from a very seafaring material, bronze, and comes in a 42 mm edition limited to 888 pieces with an interchangeable brown leather strap. Its additional crown at 2 o’clock drives the internal rotating bezel to measure the elapsed time.

PVP.: 2.650 €.

Oris Summer Edition by Oris

This is the first time Oris has launched a special summer edition, and it debuts with a 41.5 mm automatic Aquis Date (one of the diving models it has redesigned this year), this time in a tasty watermelon shade. Made in steel, it is secured by a three-link bracelet, and features a unidirectional rotating bezel with ceramic insert, as well as a transparent case back. It is water-resistant to 300 m.

PVP.: 2.400 €.
