Having presented a collaboration in 2022 as part of the ‘All Access Summer’ programme, Dr. Martens is once again partnering with the prestigious London school to capture the essence of one of its most iconic silhouettes.
The 1460 boot is the first design from the British brand that started it all. A model with over 60 years of history, it has embodied durability and craftsmanship like no other shoe has ever done before. It is the past, the present and the future of Dr. Martens. The silhouette that has conquered great designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Yohji Yamamoto, weaving fashion history on countless occasions and amplifying the voices of emerging talents.
Now, taking the boot as a starting point, DM‘s has reconnected with students at Central Saint Martins and challenged them to reimagine the silhouette through their own unique vision. They have created a complete look and a fully customised pair of 1460s to tell their own story through a campaign shot by London-based creative collective SXWKS.
The nine students selected by some of the design world’s most innovative emerging talents such as Lulu Kennedy MBE (founder of Fashion East) and Erin Magee (Vice President of Design at Supreme and founder of MadeMe) have been announced today, of which only four finalists will work with the Dr. Martens team to bring their projects to life. The winning designs will be launched during London Fashion Week 2024 and will receive a £5,000 bursary to support the development of their creative practice during their final academic term.
