Dr. Martens and Palace present a collaboration that takes streetwear to new heights. Three versions of the iconic 1461 are reinvented with Palace’s signature irreverence, fusing the essence of the iconic boot with a nostalgic reference to late 80s fashion. Each pair of shoes comes adorned with a bottle cap charm, evoking the trend of 1988, when Matt Gross, frontman of the Bros band, made Grolsch bottle caps a must-have accessory on the 1461.
Crafted in exclusive Vintage Smooth leather, the styles are available in three timeless finishes: black, cherry red and woodland camouflage. The silhouette sits on a BEN sole, complemented by signature Dr. Martens yellow stitching. In a landmark gesture, for the first time in the brand’s history, the heel pull tab is renewed with the Palace logo, replacing the traditional ‘AirWair’.
The launch is accompanied by a short film that epitomises the anticipation and culture that unites the two brands. Directed by irreverence and starring punk poet John Cooper Clarke, skateboarders Charlie Birch and Lucien Clarke, and actress and model Serena Motola, the short film reflects the vibrant energy of this collaboration, with a touch of surrealism including, of course, a dog.
DR. MARTENS x PALACE will be available on 11 April at palaceskateboards.com and Palace shops, and from 12 April at drmartens.com.
