Dr. Martens proudly launches its new Deadstock collection where it combines various body types from past seasons and different tanneries.
Deadstock is part of the Made in England collection, manufactured by craftsmen in the Northamptonshire factory. By using leather from different origins and areas, maximised use of materials and minimal waste is achieved.
Using exaggerated embroidery, colour variations, unfinished and uneven edges, and handmade eyelets, Deadstock offers a patchwork aesthetic and creates a different finish for each boot and shoe. A taste of what can be achieved from the leftovers.
In this way, the iconic 1460 eight-eyelet boot is made from various types of leather from internationally renowned tanneries such as Desert Oasis suede, Classic Oiled Shoulder and Wax Commander from C.F. Stead (UK) and Dublin leather from Horween (Chicago). Each type of leather is used for a different purpose, although they all feature brown and tan shades to create a coherent collage. It features the traditional sole and the unmistakable yellow stitching as well as the characteristic looped heel strap.
On the other hand, the 1461 shoe is reinvented as a unique shoe. The marriage of contrasting Quillon base leather with soft Desert Oasis suede and classic Split suede from the Leeds C.F. Stead tannery. With a palette of black and indigo, and contrasting white stitching, the 1461 stands out for its unique construction. All set on a Dr. Martens sole and finished off with yellow stitching and a functional pull tab.
The campaign portrays the spirit of the collection thanks to furniture designer and maker Lewis Kemmennoe and weaver Rosa Del Rosario, who created the skirting boards and sculptural elements that appear through scraps of wood and leather.
Deadstock by Dr. Martens will go on sale tomorrow, February 17, through its website and in selected physical shops.
