Dry cleaning: the new beauty trend from TikTo

If you want to update your skincare routine in two steps, TikTok has a new method that may pique your interest. It’s the “Dry Cleansing” technique.

Dry cleansing is a technique that does not involve water. Instead of wetting your face before applying your facial cleanser, this method involves rubbing the product into your dry skin before rinsing your face with water. Some TikTokers have confirmed through the platform that this method changed their skin for the better, even helping to clear pores and minimise sebum production thanks to the undiluted nature and concentration of the active ingredients that can penetrate deeper into the skin.

The key to having a positive dry cleansing experience comes down to the type of cleanser you use. Gel or foam-based cleansers are made with a large amount of water, which ultimately leads to the risk of firm skin after dry cleansing. People with highly sensitive or chronic skin problems (such as eczema or psoriasis) should not try this method. If you do venture into dry cleansing, we recommend that you opt for a cleanser that does not contain acid.
