Acne Studios presented its proposal for the FW23 season during Paris Fashion Week yesterday. To do so, it created a mystical atmosphere through which it invited spectators to discover its most mysterious universe.
Trees, vines and roots formed a shadowy backdrop that was only illuminated by glittering lights hanging from the branches. Meanwhile, models emerged from the darkness of the forest to present Johnny Johansson‘s new designs, all inspired by this futuristic nature.
Greenish and brownish tones took over dresses and tops, simulating leaves in the process of decomposition. More vivid colours such as pink, orange and blue also appeared in draped dresses, with fringes and floral details. Finally, black and grey were reserved for more elevated styles such as biker-inspired jackets, leather trousers, floor-length coats and tailored ensembles.
Finally, accessories such as headband-style sunglasses, choker necklaces or handbags like the Multipocket completed the looks to add an extra touch of exclusivity.
“For this collection I was inspired by the dark winters we have in Sweden, where there are only a few hours of daylight. I wanted to capture the beauty of the darkness. Sweden is the kind of place where the city ends abruptly and then the pine forest begins. I’ve always liked the contrast in urban life and nature, the idea that an endless forest is just around the corner. In Scandinavia, nature often clashes with the city: the playground is on one side of the building and the forest on the other. Living so close to nature is increasingly rare in our modern world,” Johansson explains.
