Ferragamo presents new V-shaped ballerinas with the Vara bow in a contrast of materials and colours perfect for summer.

Ferragamo’s new ballerinas are a real must-have

Ballerinas are synonymous with Ferragamo. Founder Salvatore Ferragamo devoted much of his creativity to this style of shoe, inspired by the elegance of ballet. Interested in the anatomy of the foot from the beginning of his career and in creating innovative styles, Salvatore began designing flat shoes in the 1920s.

Hollywood stars of the 1950s wore them: for Audrey Hepburn, Ferragamo created a model in 1954 that is still in the collection to pay homage to the actress’s past as a ballet dancer. In 1960 he also designed ballerinas for other famous women such as Katherine Dunham, Alicia Markova, Anna Pavlova, Colette Marchand, Agnes de Mille, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe and Ingrid Bergman.

Ferragamo’s most iconic ballerina of recent years is the Varina, first introduced in 2008, with a grosgrain bow and a metal plate engraved with the Ferragamo logo. The Pre-Fall 2024 models are a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic design and feature a pouch construction with pleats at the square toe. The double Gancini motif on the upper or the new Vara plaque add an iconic and distinctive touch.

The model with the double Gancini motif is available in leather with a crackle effect in black, burgundy, red and blue. Meanwhile, the other design features a new Vara plaque in denim, in two-tone black/white or white/pink, and in shiny gold. The style with the new Vara plate is also present with a pointed shape and is available in the colours black, mascarpone, acqua and camel.

Finally, inspired by the Varina model, Ferragamo presents a V-shaped ballerina with the Vara bow in a contrast of materials and colours: red bow on mascarpone nappa leather, nude grosgrain bow on denim, and two versions in soft velvet in pink and navy blue.

Available in Ferragamo boutiques and on the ferragamo.com website.

Under the splendour of the Renaissance city of Florence, Ferragamo presents a unique dialogue between two generations of creators.
