From the terror of Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 to the epic fantasy of Avatar: Fire and Ash, and the return of highly anticipated series like Fallout or the Volume 2 finale of Stranger Things.

Oh. What. Fun. – 3 December (Prime Video)

Michelle Pfeiffer leads this Christmas comedy as Claire Clauster, the emotional glue of a family that, this year… forgets her. Tired of always being the one who holds everything together, Claire sets off on an improvised trip that forces her relatives to go looking for her. The cast also includes Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Jason Schwartzman and Eva Longoria.

Eternity – 4 December (cinemas)

Elizabeth Olsen stars in this rom-com with an existential twist. After dying, Joan must decide with whom she wants to spend eternity: her husband Luke (Miles Teller) or her first great love, Larry (Callum Turner), who died in the war. A story that blends humour, emotion and romance in the afterlife.

The Abandons – 4 December (Netflix)

Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson lead this western set in 1850s America. Created by Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy), the series explores belonging, the frontier and the legends of the genre, from Jesse James to Billy the Kid, across a ten-episode season.

Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 – 4 December (cinemas)

After the success of the 2023 film, Blumhouse returns to the universe of murderous animatronics. The story is set years later, following Abby and Vanessa as they face new mechanical creatures lurking in the dark.

Jay Kelly – 5 December (Netflix)

Noah Baumbach’s latest project, first screened at the Venice Film Festival, arrives on Netflix. The film follows a Hollywood actor who begins to question key decisions in his life, trying to set things right before it’s too late.

TS: The Final Show – 12 December (Disney+)

A docuseries offering a behind-the-scenes look at Taylor Swift’s massive global tour. The artist opens up to her fans with intimate footage and appearances from Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, Travis Kelce, Ed Sheeran and Florence Welch.

Fallout – 17 December (Prime Video)

The series inspired by the iconic video game returns after its acclaimed first season. The new episodes pick up after the explosive previous finale and travel across the Mojave Desert to reach New Vegas — one of the most anticipated locations for fans.

Avatar: Fire and Ash – 17 December (cinemas)

James Cameron returns with the third instalment of the saga. Jake, Neytiri and their family must cope with the loss of Neteyam and face an aggressive new tribe allied with Quaritch. Expect action, emotional weight and spectacular visuals.

Emily in Paris – 18 December (Netflix)

Emily is back with new romantic and professional complications. After leaving Gabriel behind, her heart now seems to point towards Italy. This season promises a turning point for the marketing agent, whose work life is also on shaky ground.

Father Mother Sister Brother – 18 Dec. (cinemas)

After winning the Golden Lion in Venice, Jim Jarmusch’s new film arrives in cinemas. Divided into three chapters, it observes family relationships with humour, tenderness and the bittersweet tone typical of the director.

The Great Flood – 19 December (Netflix)

Korean disaster cinema at its finest. A group of survivors take refuge in a building as a devastating flood has wiped out the world above. Starring Park Hae-soo (Squid Game) and Kim Da-mi (Our Beloved Summer).

Amadeus – 23 December (Sky)

A television adaptation of Peter Shaffer’s play, which inspired Miloš Forman’s iconic 1984 film. Across five episodes, the series recounts Mozart’s rise and his rivalry with Antonio Salieri. Starring Will Sharpe and Paul Bettany.

Goodbye June – 24 December (Netflix)

Kate Winslet makes her directorial debut while also starring alongside Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough and Timothy Spall. The plot follows a family dealing with the declining health of June during the holidays, triggering tension and long-held secrets.

Stranger Things – 26 December (Netflix)

Netflix releases the final three episodes of Volume 2 before the grand finale arrives on New Year’s Day. Vecna remains a huge threat, but the protagonists now have new alliances and knowledge to confront the most anticipated ending of the year.

December becomes a key month for not missing anything in cinema and streaming. Christmas arrives loaded with films and series that set the rhythm of the season.
