Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) finally landed in Spain. Its new king? Franco Tenaglia.
The Marbella Arena witnessed the consecration of three world champions and the great projection of new faces in the BKFC in a night that joined contact sport to music by the hand of Greenback Records, the record label owned by Conor McGregor, who was also in charge of opening the evening.
Franco Tenaglia, who has been in charge of bringing the competition to Spanish territory, became the new lightweight world champion after a very close fight with Tony “Loco” Soto. In a bout of pure endurance on the part of both, Tenaglia defeated the previously undefeated Soto. With this victory, the Argentinean is positioned as one of the great international promises of the BKFC, confirming that the bare-knuckle has found its representative figure of the sport in Spain.
American Austin Trout, meanwhile, defended his welterweight belt against Rico Franco, demonstrating his technical and tactical superiority, neutralizing Franco with a forcefulness that earned him a unanimous decision victory. The bout was a showcase of Trout’s dominance, who once again proved with his game that he is one of the most respected figures in the division. David Mundell, the middleweight champion, retains his title. In just two rounds, he swept European Danny Christie with a blistering performance, defending his belt with a TKO that came 55 seconds into the second round.
In addition to the three main bouts, the evening featured other bouts that served as warm-ups for the audience. Some of them served to showcase emerging Spanish talent, with newcomers Daniel Jacaré, David Mora, Fran Suárez and Nico Gaffie facing international opponents and earning a standing ovation from the local audience. In particular, David Mora stood out by beating Fran Suarez by TKO in the fourth round, after an intense battle that had to be stopped due to a medical stoppage. Nico Gaffie also shined, defeating Radek Stadler by TKO in the second round, consolidating his name as a promise in the national bare-knuckle.
After the fights, music took over the Marbella Arena with performances by international figures such as Xzibit and Kodak Black, which put the finishing touch to a night that combined sport and entertainment. The collaboration with Greenback Records ensured that BKFC was much more than just an evening of wrestling, becoming a 360º experience for the attendees.
After an unforgettable night for the sport, the future of the competition looks quite optimistic. According to the organization’s president, David Feldman, the next target is Madrid, with an event scheduled for the first half of 2025. See you soon BKFC!
