The funk-R&B quartet revives their musical output this year with the first release of 2024 which features A$AP Rocky and the band’s own Anderson .Paak.
Free Nationals‘ new single titled “Gangsta” comes across as a funky track with jazz influences as well as a variety of sounds that fluctuate after .Paak’s melodic start. This is followed by Rocky’s intricate verses that glide over the smooth groove set by Free Nationals’ base set over the course of about 3 minutes in length.
“Gangsta” comes as the quartet’s first major release since their 2019 album of the same name, which featured collaborations with the likes of Mac Miller, Kali Uchis, Daniel Caesar and JID, which also received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album.
The new track is now available to listen to on Spotify and Apple Music, while the video, directed by François Rousselet, has just been released so you can delve into all those sequences chasing a mob of kids led by mini ASAP Rocky.
