The 2024 Golden Globes, with the ever-repeated tagline ‘the prelude to the Oscars’, have already been awarded. We take a look at all the winners in this list of the best films and series of 2023. Oppenheimer and Poor Things triumphed in the film categories at the 81st Golden Globes and Succession and The Bear in the TV categories. In addition, Succession won four media awards for its final season.

The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, won five awards, beating the other big favourite, ‘Barbie’, which only took two of the nine awards it was nominated for. In addition, actor Cillian Murphy won the Golden Globe for best dramatic actor for his portrayal of physicist J Robert Oppenheimer. Best Supporting Actor went to Robert Downey Jr., who won his first Golden Globe for his portrayal of politician Lewis Strauss. Nolan won best director.
