British designer Grace Wales Bonner will take the helm of Hermès menswear division, replacing Véronique Nichanian after 37 years in the role. With this appointment, Hermès is embracing an intellectual and critically acclaimed vision to shape the brand’s future.
At 35, Wales Bonner fulfils a lifelong dream: working at Hermès, a goal she previously shared in an interview with System Magazine. Founder of her eponymous label, she is recognised for her meticulous tailoring, innovative use of materials, and a profound approach to identity.
Winner of the LVMH Prize, Wales Bonner has a multidisciplinary career. She is a curator, writer, and artistic leader. She has collaborated with brands such as adidas Originals and presented exhibitions at institutions including MoMA. Her clients include Kendrick Lamar, Lewis Hamilton, and Solange, with whom she has also collaborated on T-shirts.
Wales Bonner transition marks a historic moment for Hermès. Nichanian will present her final collection in January 2026, and Wales Bonner will debut her first collection in January 2027.
