Through an extensive exhibition located at the Gucci Ginza Gallery in Tokyo.
The Italian house dives into the archives of the 1960s to rescue one of its most beloved emblems: the Bamboo 1947 bag. Presented for the first time in the year that motivates its name, it quickly became an object of desire difficult to obtain thanks to its strong personality devised by Florentine craftsmen and the great Guccio Gucci. A collectible work of art that would transcend in time and mark a new stage in the history of the house.
Now, it is being honored through an extensive journey that traces no less than sixty years of history, reimagining more than 400 iterations through the lens of a select group of traditional and contemporary Japanese artisans.
Visitors will be able to enjoy an immersive experience and delve into the artisanal process that has marked Gucci‘s history over the years.
So you know, if you visit Japan this season, you should include this stop in your planning. The exhibition ‘Bamboo 1947: Then and Now. Celebrating 60 Years of Gucci in Japan’ will be open until September 23.
