Gucci Continuum x Barbour Re-Loved: a romantic collection based on sustainable love

Eco-futurism weaves this collaborative story made from deadstock fabrics from the House of Gucci’s archive.

Gucci Continuum x Barbour Re-Loved: a romantic collection based on sustainable love

Barbour Re-Loved and Gucci Continuum continue to (re)build fashion from existing products and fabrics to minimise their impact on the planet. Two ecological actions that now go hand in hand to create a textile proposal of 12 pieces created using the upcycling technique, offering a new life to all those leftover materials.

Gucci’s Continuum initiative, which brings together emerging and established designers to explore the house’s archives in inventive formats, thus turns to Barbour to launch this collection in which they renew romanticism by combining the classic British style of their outerwear with reused Gucci fabrics.

This creative synergy based on sustainability gives rise to eight unisex jackets, three gilet waistcoats and a bucket hat with which to escape aesthetically in the cottagecore. It features key Gucci themes such as ‘Flora’, ‘Equestrian’, ‘English Gardens’ and ‘Night’, which sprout alongside representational elements such as flowers or constructions in Tom Ford’s memorable red velvet, and iterations such as his Bedale jacket waxed with waistcoats from discarded Gucci bags.

With a century-long heritage rooted in British country values, Barbour has always made cotton jackets to last, a commitment echoed by Barbour Re-Loved, whose garments are reconditioned to extend their lifespan,’ read the collaboration notes.

Gucci Continuum x Barbour Re-Loved then traces a journey from the South Shields factory in the North East of England to the great outdoors with a collection of jackets that continue that dialogue about tradition, craftsmanship and the value of garments that can be worn forever.
