Gucci gives a nod to its past with a new tennis collection

Following its anticipated arrival in select Paris shops in May, the collection now makes its global debut with a new campaign starring professional tennis players Emma Cohen and George Loffhagen. Together, they embody the spirit of the collection as they wear the different pieces with the winning attitude that characterises them both on and off the court.

This special selection is inspired by the House’s archives dating back to the 1970s and pays homage to the House’s historical connection to tennis. During that time, the House expanded its offering of tennis-related products – primarily accessories and footwear – including the iconic 1977 Gucci Tennis, one of the first shoes ever made by a luxury brand. This affinity for tennis carried over into the 1980s with a selection of ready-to-wear.

The collection presents a modern and stylish reinterpretation of traditional tennis apparel with refined dresses, sophisticated polo shirts and matching outfits for men and women, including shorts and skirts in combination with tank tops and knitwear, complemented by hats, wristbands and a carefully selected range of leather goods.

The selection also includes a new travel bag, tennis backpack, racquet bag and tennis shoe carrier, all featuring a white-on-white version of the iconic GG monogram and triband detailing. The iconic Tennis 1977 trainer is available in white canvas and leather, and comes with a Gucci Ace sneaker adorned with the GG monogram.

The iconic triband, a distinctive code that weaves together the House’s past and present and pays homage to its historic heritage, is one of the central elements of the collection. An iconic detail that serves as a common thread throughout the designs and imbues the collection with a uniform aesthetic that evokes the timeless elegance of sportswear.

The Gucci Tennis collection is now available in select shops worldwide, as well as on gucci.com.
