As the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women approaches, Gucci is appealing to its community and raising awareness of this momentous issue by donating a portion of the proceeds from sales and pre-sales of its Gucci Signoria open-toe heels in shades of Rosso Ancora to Casa delle Donne, a soon-to-be-opened women’s rights institution in Florence.
In Italy, red shoes have become a symbol of the fight against feminicide and violence against women, and many Italian squares are already adorned with hundreds of red shoes in a silent march to protest and raise awareness of this persistent social problem.
From November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, until the end of this year, the Gucci Signoria open-heel pumps in Rosso Ancora will symbolise Gucci’s commitment to the fight against gender-based violence. These shoes, which were unveiled in September 2023 at Sabato De Sarno’s inaugural show, offered a first glimpse of his creative and aesthetic vision.
During this period, a portion of the proceeds from the sales and pre-sales of this model will go towards a larger donation to the Nosotras Onlus association which plays a key role in Florence through its support of Casa delle Donne’s fundraising efforts for the development of Casa delle Donne. Casa delle Donne functions as a hub where various organisations will come together to promote initiatives of great relevance to the women of the city.
This initiative aligns with Gucci’s commitment to promote women’s rights through active support and concrete actions on a global scale, which is in line with the mission of Gucci CHIME, Gucci’s global campaign to unite, consolidate and strengthen the voices speaking out for gender equality.
The House promotes programmes to combat gender-based violence and support women survivors through close collaboration with a network of local organisations: Associazione Artemisia and BEAWARENOW in Florence, Casa Internazionale delle Donne in Rome, SvS Donna Aiuta Donna with its Cascina Ri-Nascita project in Milan, and Cooperativa Eva in Naples.
This exclusive launch coincides with the sixth edition of the Florentine festival L’Eredità delle Donne, taking place from 24-26 November, an event promoting women’s empowerment that Gucci has supported since its inception.
