GUESS USA has just launched its FW25 collection, and if you’re one of those who believe the double denim era of Britney and JT was the pinnacle of fashion, this comeback is for you. With an aesthetic deeply influenced by vintage American culture, the collection dips into nostalgia, looking back fondly at the downtown LA rock scene. FW25 is, in essence, a mix of the best of those golden days of rock “n” roll, a vibrant homage to the 1990s.
Under the creative direction of Nicolai Marciano, this season features an explosive mix of styles: from extravagant fur coats to gold bolero jackets and patchwork-embellished bombers. The collection is also distinguished by a bold play on textures, combining rustic denim with provocative contrasting micro minis and animal prints.
GUESS USA revives its signature cracked leather in crinkled leather trench coats, tight mini skirts, trucker jackets and trousers, all with an aged feel that invites rebellion. The collection incorporates 2000’s nostalgia with a ‘dirty yellow’ velvet tracksuit that evokes the golden days of streetwear. The piece is completed with a faux fur hoodie, fusing luxury and urban in a style statement.
The most disruptive touch is in the detailing: oil spill-inspired tie-dye, burnt frayed and the unmistakable distressing of denim. Knitwear and knit dresses, with a relaxed yet sophisticated aesthetic, embody the rebellious yet classy energy that defined GUESS at its best. One element that can’t be overlooked is the reinvention of the Claudia bag now with shearling.
