In a move that promises to redefine the rules of luxury, Haider Ackermann takes over as creative director of Tom Ford, bringing his bold vision and unrivalled artisanal approach to one of the most iconic houses in contemporary fashion. With a narrative that intertwines avant-garde and comfort, Ackermann not only brings his unmistakable aesthetic stamp, but also a sensibility that challenges the boundaries of modern tailoring.
“I have always been an admirer of Haider’s work,” confesses Tom Ford, who left his eponymous label in 2023 following the departure of his long-time partner Domenico De Sole. “His mastery of colour is unparalleled, his tailoring is sharp and, above all, he is incredibly modern. We share many historical references, and I can’t wait to see his proposal for the brand. I’m sure I’ll be the first to stand up and applaud after his show in March.”
Ford said goodbye, leaving a void that Peter Hawkings tried to fill, although his passage was fleeting. Now, with Ackermann at the helm, a resurgence of the brand is on the horizon. Born in Colombia and forged in Paris, Ackermann is a product of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. With a career that includes collaborations with Fila and Berluti, and a stint as a guest designer for Jean Paul Gaultier’s haute couture, Ackermann comes to Tom Ford with a rich mix of experiences and a keen vision.
“It is a profound honor for me to continue the legacy of Tom Ford, someone I deeply admire,” says Ackermann. “I am looking forward to exploring this new chapter and seeing what the future holds.” Haider Ackermann’s first collection for Tom Ford will be unveiled in March 2025, during Paris Fashion Week. Ackermann is set to rewrite the rules of the game with every stitch, every fold and every flash of his unique vision of luxury.
