At a time when the boundaries between creative disciplines are dissolving, clocks no longer just tell time: they tell stories.
Hamilton, historically allied to cinematographic language, takes a step towards a new narrative horizon with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, offering an object that goes beyond the physical. It is a dialogue between two languages -cinema and videogame- that converge in the same territory: audiovisual narration as a total art.
An unsurprising proposal if we take into account that Hamilton’s story is strongly connected to fictions that are lived with the intensity of the real. His story is woven together with great films such as Interstellar, Tenet, Oppenheimer or 2001: A Space Odyssey. In all of them there is a common element: time – physical, philosophical, narrative – has always been the protagonist. In each case, the brand has worked from within the story, collaborating directly with the creative teams to integrate watches as narrative elements.
The collaboration with Hideo Kojima follows this same logic, and the result is a limited edition inspired by the Boulton model, reimagined with Yoji Shinkawa, the art director responsible for the aesthetics of the Death Stranding universe. This watch not only appears in Death Stranding 2, but is designed with the same level of detail, aesthetic coherence and dystopian spirit that defines Kojima‘s work.
In this way, the real and the virtual intermingle, and this piece stands as a nexus between the two dimensions. With its black PVD-treated titanium case, sapphire crystals and futuristic lines, the watch obviously speaks the same visual language as Death Stranding.
The relevance of this collaboration is not only in the design. It is in what it represents: a paradigm shift. If film was for decades the highest form of visual storytelling, gaming has joined – and in some cases surpassed – it in ambition, complexity and aesthetic sensibility. What Hamilton has traditionally done with directors like Christopher Nolan, it now replicates with Kojima. For the medium has changed, but the creative logic remains the same.
“Hamilton was a perfect choice as a partner to design and create a set of products in the near future. Enjoy, with this watch in your hands, a product that connects the world of gaming and the real world.” – Hideo Kojima
Because when time becomes part of the story, it is not enough to measure it: it has to be told. And that is where Hamilton is.
