Hermès presents its new collection for the home

This year, Hermès is bringing new creations closer to objects from its heritage. The Hermès object is timeless, plays with the ambiguity between the old and the new, and transcends time. During a tour that recounts its link with the land, the eye is drawn to a composition of raw materials – brick, stone, slate, wood or compacted earth – reminiscent of the design of a jacket.

The equestrian coat with geometric and colourful motifs, an unmistakable symbol of the maison’s cultural heritage, inspires the textile and leather goods. The new Diapason armchair by Hermès has a radical and elegant line. The light lamps, inspired by the equestrian codes of the discipline of tumbling, and the Tressages équestres tableware, with its delicate lines, make a statement of lightness and refinement.

The Hippique quilt, designed by Studio Hermès based on a drawing by Jochen Gerner, is composed of a succession of flags inspired by the motifs of the rider’s coat, in coloured appliqués representing the diversity of existing equestrian patterns. This creation of unprecedented size, made in silk and cotton twill, with a stitching of the same colour and cashmere lining, stands as the standard-bearer of a unique tailoring know-how.

The Diapason armchair designed by Studio Hermès represents the modernist legacy by combining the contrast of materials and the solidity of formal design. Its architectural aesthetic is given by two pieces of leather, for the seat and backrest, mounted on a hammered aluminium frame. The harnesses, the whip, the obstacle bars… In this new line of Voltige lamps, the equestrian language reigns supreme, with elements such as a fine two-tone braided leather saddle post.

For the first time, saddlery and leather craftsmanship are used in a line of objects for the home. The Derby blanket baskets, buckets and centrepieces are made entirely of leather. A material that lends itself to any condition of construction, scale, palette or geometry: hand-stitched strips of leather coloured on both sides are rolled up to form a basket, while the centrepieces with leather marquetry reveal their geometric motifs.

Hermès is sued over the sales model of its Birkin bags.
