If you are looking for a new home, you will have realised that this is not the best time of year to move. Whether you rent or own, you have to sell one kidney and part of the other to be able to live decently in any city in Spain. So much so that, to pay 5.25 million dollars for a mansion of 850 square metres, with a basketball court and a cinema, and which is also one of the most iconic houses in the history of cinema, seems to us to be not that much.
This is the house where the 1990 Christmas classic ‘Home Alone’ starring Macaulay Culkin was filmed. The property, located at 671 North Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, Illinois, has come on the market after 12 years of being ‘reimagined for modern luxury’ by its current owners, according to buying and selling website Zillow. The tenants, who bought the house in 2012, kept the home’s most memorable and recognisable spaces.
The price is justified with a ‘magazine-worthy gourmet kitchen’, two family rooms, a covered porch, six bathrooms, an attic that has been converted into ‘a junior suite’. The basement is now a ‘fully equipped gym, recreational space, a full bathroom, a bar and a state-of-the-art movie theatre’ with a ‘Home Alone’ poster and a giant LEGO of Macaulay Culkin himself. The house also includes ‘an indoor sports court, complete with a three-point line and several baskets.’
