‘HOTEL CHRONICLES’ by Nina Urgell & Pau Carrete edited by Progresso

With the aura of projects made with truth, HOTEL CHRONICLES is a work constructed by four hands—Nina Urgell, muse and subject, and Pau Carreté, photographer and witness—during their travels, in rooms where time folds upon itself. What emerges from this encounter is not a travel diary, nor a simple portrait album. It’s a liturgy of intimacy, an exploration of the invisible: the smallest gestures, the subtle emotions, the long pauses, the shared echoes.

“Hotel Chronicles is an evocative and intimate collection of portraits of Nina Urgell, captured through the lens of Pau Carreté during her travels. Each image, taken in the atmospheric surroundings of different hotels, tells a story of shared moments. The book is much more than a photographic archive; it is a testament to an intimate connection,” the authors define.

What Pau captures with his camera is not just a body, but her way of inhabiting space. Nina appears as a recurring figure, but never repeated: there is something different in every gesture, in every shadow. Hotel rooms function as emotional capsules where the subject and the photographer establish a silent dialogue, charged with invisible codes, of naked complicity.

Published by Progresso, designed by the Barcelona studio Querida, with editorial revision by Heather Cameron, the book, limited to just 250 copies, is presented with careful materials that honor its content: 20.5 x 27.5 cm, hard cover, and an edition as limited as it’s essential. Each copy is a fragment of something larger: an emotional map that is not read, but contemplated.

This Friday, May 23rd, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Il Giardinetto (Carrer de la Granada del Penedès, 28 – Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Barcelona), HOTEL CHRONICLES opens to the world. And you’re invited to enter.
