Camper, one of the most iconic names in contemporary design, celebrated its 50th anniversary in an event that was much more than a mere commemoration: it was a journey through five decades of avant-garde, creativity and purpose. At the historic factory in Inca, Mallorca, the brand not only celebrated its past, but presented a bold and promising vision for the next 50 years.
On the evening of Thursday 3 April, Camper’s former headquarters became the epicentre of a sophisticated celebration, where the most prominent names in contemporary culture came together to witness a momentous milestone. The carefully curated dinner brought together key figures from the artistic and cultural scene: muse Rossy de Palma, local artists of the stature of Marta Armengol, Claire O’Keefe and gallery owner Marc Bibiloni. Together they shared an evening full of symbolism, where every gesture, every conversation, seemed a reflection of the uniqueness that has defined Camper over the last 50 years.
Among the attendees were also designer Jaime Hayón, Mushka, Ouineta, Itzan Escamilla, Guitarrica, Helena Cuesta, Lucía Cuesta, Carla Paucar, Clara Sans, Carlos González, Albert Baró, Diego Domínguez, Hugo, Curro Verdugo, Iván Pellicer, Hugo Arbués, Ali Guty, Samuel López, Eduard Torres, among many others. Each of these guests, with their presence and trajectory, contributed to a night full of creativity, connection and shared vision, in an event that celebrated both the past and the future of Camper in a unique and unrepeatable way.
The event was a deep dive into the brand’s DNA. Guests toured Camper’s graphic archive, a space that, from the moment they entered, captivated with a visual explosion of colours, shapes and textures that told the story of the brand through its most emblematic designs. The workshop, recently renovated by the legendary designer Jasper Morrison, was presented as a palpable testimony to Camper’s constant evolution: a place where tradition and innovation meet in a delicate balance.
The celebration culminated in a party that moved to Camper’s offices at Carrer Quarter 91 in Inca. There, the beats of Soffmm and Toccororo set the rhythm of the night, a sound experience that complemented the vibrant and cosmopolitan atmosphere of the evening. It was an encounter where creativity, design and culture merged in a perfect symbiosis, reflecting the essence of Camper as a beacon of innovation in the footwear universe.
In addition, as part of this significant anniversary, Camper presented a limited collection in its signature red, a visual metaphor for the passion and energy that has accompanied its evolution. The brand also unveiled a unique collaboration with literary editor Irma Boom, a book celebrating 50 years of Camper’s history, which will be released in February 2025. And for lovers of visual culture, a special edition of The Walking Society Magazine will be launched in March, under the lens of British photographer Martin Parr.
Camper’s 50th anniversary was a multi-dimensional celebration, not only celebrating the brand’s glorious past, but making it clear that its impact is far from ephemeral. With an eye on the future, Camper continues to walk with a unique proposition, where design merges with social awareness and respect for the environment. This is just the beginning of a new chapter, one in which Camper will continue to redefine footwear and design culture with the same passion and innovation that has characterised it throughout these five decades.
A legacy that will undoubtedly walk into the future with the same determination, and with more purpose than ever. Camper is more alive than ever.
