Focusing on upcycling and sustainability as a starting point and fundamental axis of transformation in the fashion industry.
There are only seven days left until the 34th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion begins and all efforts are focused on promoting a sustainable system through social awareness, where there is room for dialogue and reflection of creators, always placing value on innovation, creativity, circularity, sustainability and inclusion.
As explained by Jaume Baró Torres, Secretary for Enterprise and Competitiveness of the Department of Enterprise and Employment of the Generalitat de Catalunya and Marta Coca i Ortiga, director of the Fashion Area of the CCAM and project manager of 080 Barcelona Fashion, we will once again enjoy the 080 Reborn initiative, the exciting proposal made with clothes recovered from textile waste sorting centres and second-hand shops. The aim is to prolong the useful life of the fabrics, minimise the environmental impact caused by production and encourage the reuse of the garments. The stylist Fermín + Gilles, in charge of presenting this revolutionary line.
In addition, the TexMeeting CONNECTS project will be presented: era of change or change of era? where the rapid and constant changes to which today’s society is subjected will be presented. From the technological revolution through Artificial Intelligence and 5G and the rise of big data. Factors that affect and transform the global scope of fashion as well as economic and labour models and socio-cultural approaches.
And as usual, inclusivity also takes over the diverse casting of models of all ethnicities, bodies and gender identities.
