Is Acne Studios living its best moment?

The Swedish fashion house is experiencing a kind of golden age due to the celebrity culture that orbits it and a renewed aesthetic that has positioned it at the core of the system. Has the perception we had about Acne Studios changed yet?

Is Acne Studios living its best moment?

Jonny Johansson‘s eclectic vision inspired by architectural forms and different arts that he dilutes through fashion goes far beyond the logo of his sub-line Face and/or that expressive emoticon that dwells in our collective imagination. That’s probably the underestimated conception we had of this brand that during the last few months has experienced a totally unexpected rise.

Within its own synthesis of luxury streetwear, and its timeless aesthetic universe between archives of denim, leather and Musubi It bags, new avant-garde silhouettes that transcend all those codes associated with the brand are now adhered. A modernized concept that has been projected by the TikTok fashion community through the virtual exhibition of products from which new trends and styles are blossoming. Pieces that have become the new cult objects, such as its mohair plaid scarf, linked to some 13 million views.

AN UPWARD MOVEMENT

Beyond all these factors, the real transition to the glorification of the brand came with the copies and dupes that are already part of the counterfeit culture, which reproduce countless items such as its leather biker of 1,650 euros (sold out worldwide), its workwear-inspired bomber in pink or its asymmetrical skirt with lace trim taken from the SS23 catwalk. A whole trend that culminates in the elevation of its DNA that has also been channeled through the brand’s campaigns, as well as by all those iconic personalities who have worn their pieces such as Rosalia, Kylie Jenner or Ryan Gosling.

The evolution of Acne Studios finished clarifying and illuminating the catwalk in his last proposal for spring-summer 2023 in which he encumbrated all that decade of Parisian fashion shows. A reflection that materialized through a melting pot of diverse cultures and countless aesthetic choices in a collection full of romantic lace, georgette and satin crepe that coexisted with a punk version of spikes and hand-painted leather studs. A whole deconstruction of the usual wedding tropes that offered that subversive twist of the brand and made it a clear reference within the fashion industry.
