Liam Gallagher is reigniting speculation about a possible Oasis comeback in 2025. Rolling Stone has reported rumours that the Gallagher brothers are reportedly ironing out a 15-year rivalry, and are planning a series of UK concerts, including an epic 10-night tour of Wembley Stadium. If confirmed, the comeback would not only mark a milestone for the band, but would surpass Taylor Swift’s recent record of eight consecutive nights on the same stage.
The Reading Festival was the trigger: rumours of a reunion spread like wildfire, generating a flurry of commentary on social media. According to The Times, industry insiders claim the announcement is imminent, and could even happen as early as Tuesday. Although Liam has reacted on X with his trademark humour by saying ‘News to me’ and ‘I don’t know anything’, his ambiguous statements have only added fuel to the fire.
This Sunday, the official Oasis X account posted a cryptic message: ‘27.08.24, 8am’, which many interpreted as the definitive teaser of the long-awaited reunion. Moreover, the date coincides with the anniversary of Definitely Maybe’s debut, re-released and promoted with special events led by Liam.
Sky News backs up the comeback theory, claiming that Wembley Stadium would already be booked for 10 nights for Oasis. In addition, the band could return home to Manchester with a show at Heaton Park and headline festivals such as Glastonbury.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has revealed that the band have reportedly received a million-dollar offer of $61.35 million for a world tour. While Liam, 51, has been enthusiastic, Noel, 57, has been more reserved. However, their recent expensive divorce could be tipping the balance in favour of a reunion.
In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Noel left the door ajar, noting that he would consider a reunion if Liam contacted him directly. This weekend, Liam has continued to fuel the rumours online, firing off responses such as ‘See you out front’ and suggesting the official tour announcement would come ‘next Friday’.
Industry sources also say the tour would include iconic venues such as the Etihad Stadium, Twickenham, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with promoters such as SJM Concerts and Live Nation bidding to close deals. Europe and the United States would also be on the tour route.
