Isabel Marant AW22: grunge spirit and nonchalant silhouettes

Isabel Marant ditches the ethnic Parisian style to focus on the rock ‘n’ roll side of the 90s and give a nod to Kurt Cobain’s legacy.

The argument that the Isabel Marant brand is always a hit and that it never disappoints has been reaffirmed once again after the men’s autumn/winter 22 collection was revealed during Paris Fashion Week (PFW).

Leaving aside the ethnic Parisian style and moving closer to the rock universe, this season the French ready-to-wear brand has decided to change register and let the grunge spirit take over part of the garments and accessories of the collection, thus making a nod to the 90s and the legacy of Kurt Cobain and mixing different prints, colours and fabrics, thus successfully and sometimes achieving the patchwork type of print.

Another of the concepts that the designer also wanted to transmit through her latest proposal was the adventurous spirit and the charm of the outdoor life that the Marant man also possesses. For this type of situation, Isabel proposes a selection of windbreakers and parkas, worthy of falling in love at first sight, either for their square look or for their combination of colours in the purest colour block style. Our favourites? The hooded poncho in khaki green combined with brown and beige and matching balaclava with visor in the latter colour, and the parka with sheepskin collar in yellow green and blue. Finally, the cool, urban and trendy touch to this collection is provided by the “Bumkeeh” trainers, the men’s version of the iconic I.M. platform sneakers.
