Isabel Marant sets up a safari at Palais Royal

Outside the Palais Royal, dozens of people crowded the entrance with the illusion of meeting their favorite stars. Isabel Marant is one of the most important fashion shows on the calendar, and no one wants to miss the event, no matter how unfavorable the circumstances are; because they were. These last few days, the temperatures in Paris have dropped considerably, the rain has come and gone, but that didn’t stop the show from going on. In fact, Isabel Marant managed to raise the temperature with a bohemian and wild summer that she painted in the gardens of the Palais Royal.

Guests, including Diane Kruger, Normani, Seong Hwa, Ashley Graham took their seats around a fountain that marked the epicenter of the event. Marant, abandoned the traditional tent of his previous fashion shows. Around fountains with silver balls, illuminated by monoliths that simulated the gradient of the sky at sunset, the stage dialogued perfectly with the color palette of the collection, which were purely warm.

To the hypnotic rhythm of percussions, the models burst onto the stage like illuminated figures deep in the rainforest. Each step revealed short, lightweight garments, which seemed to move with a life of their own thanks to the bangs that adorned almost every piece. The duality of Marant’s new collection was clear: On the one hand, the safari influence in suede jackets and pants, appearing in earth tones such as camel, chocolate and burgundy. On the other, the bohemian spirit manifests itself in long dresses, fringed blouses and leather microshorts decorated with shiny metallic studs.

Suede is the star material of the season, being used to make not only jackets and pants, but also small openwork dresses that simulate lace. Fine leather laces cross collars and sides, giving the garments a sensual touch that is complemented by intricate embroidery and handmade fabrics.

With bare legs, the models wore gladiator sandals with laces that intertwined to the knee or Indian-inspired slippers, all decorated with shiny studs. This footwear, far from the vertiginous heights of other seasons, reaffirms Marant’s proposal for this summer: comfort without sacrificing style. Because Isabel Marant was proposing here the idea of an all-terrain woman, who steps strong and confident.

Marant proposes here a new adventure between two exotic worlds: safari and bohemian.
